走入紅磚石沈澱的歷史時光 ─ 北投溫泉博物館

Passing through the pavilion and entrance, the viewer is stunned by the tatami lobby before them. This used to be the leisure and dining space for bathers. The open design of the cloister provides good ventilation and invites natural lighting, enabling great visability. The traditional Japanese tatami design without excessive decoration is reminiscent of a basic and simple attitude towards life. Although wooden grill pulled doors have been omitted, the space is divided through varying materials, constructing cosy spaces that are covert but also intercommunicable.
穿越涼亭、換鞋玄關，眼前的榻榻米大廳令人震撼，是當時沐浴後供人用餐休息之處，開放設計的迴廊通風良好，引入大量戶外光線，視覺穿透性十足。日本傳統的榻榻米設計回歸最根本的生活態度，沒有過多修飾，雖已略去木格柵拉門，卻以材質界定，打造舒適的隱密卻開放互動空間。

The wooden staircase connects the public bathing area on the ground floor. At the center is a large pool for male visitors. Arched pillars surround the bathing pool in a Roman and Turkish style, adding glamour to this vintage and elegant space together with the stained glass on the walls on either side.
經木作樓梯下到一樓公共浴場，中央是以服務男賓為主的大池，圓拱列柱圍起的浴池帶有羅馬和土耳其浴池風格，與兩側牆上的鑲嵌彩色玻璃合作，替古樸典雅的空間妝飾絢麗通亮的沐浴場景。

The Japanese lattice windows are near a piece of Hokutolite, a rare mineral found only in Tamagawa Japan and Beitou Stream. The rock is formed by green sulfur hot spring water, and naturally has a translucent yellow-white color. A visit to the Beitou Hot Spring Museum gives one the experience of sunlight shining on the floating steam of the spring water, a sensation similar to resting on a stream rock that has been smoothed by the water, carefree and laid back.
日式格子窗伴著展示的北投石，稀有的北投石產地只有日本玉川及台灣北投溪，共通特性為生成於青磺溫泉水，天然的青磺泉，水色呈半透明的黃白色。一訪北投溫泉博物館，在此感受煙霧裊裊，日光照在溫泉冒起的蒸氣，彷彿正在溪畔倚著流水沖刷磨成的細膩大石，悠然自在。
