永無島 藏著永遠長不大的藝術家 - 上篇
An artist with a kid at heart hides in the never-never land-part one
| Born in 1953, age has not left too many traces on artist Maolin Yang’s face. Creation and keeping a childlike heart is his special nourishment. Mr. Yang said, “I like the magic spirits since my childhood; I like to read “Shan Hai Jing” since I was a senior. Now I am sixty years old, but I still believe I am the embodiment of Peter Pan!” From Mr. Yang’s shy smile, there is like a spirit jumping and flying in his eyes. Being a lover of Peter Pan, Mr. Yang has an innocent heart, and creates lots of works which touch many people. Mr. Yang said, “I live with dreams and reality. There are many cartoons giving me the inspirations of creations, such as Machine God, Astro Boy, The Little Mermaid, and so on. They are all my precious childhood memories.” He hopes to give people the childlike happiness through creations and make people feel like being personally on the scene. Mr. Yang believes that only the works with emotions can touch people and linger in people’s memories. |

1953年出生的楊茂林老師，臉上看不出太多歲月的痕跡，創作與保持童心是他特殊的營養品，楊老師說：『我從小就喜歡神奇鬼怪的事物，高中就喜歡看山海經，到了60歲了還自認是彼得潘的化身！』從老師靦腆的笑容中，看到眼神有跳躍的精靈在飛翔，最愛彼得潘的楊老師，有著一顆不被現實社會淹沒的初心，透過藝術一系列發展延續出令人感動的作品。楊老師專注地說：『我是現實和夢想併進的，像無敵鐵金剛、原子小金剛、美人魚……許多的電影卡通都是我珍貴童年回憶，也是我創作的來源。』老師希望藉由創作傳遞猶如身歷其境的童趣，讓擬人化的世界，讓主角瞬間變成了你我，因為老師認為，唯有與情感有關的作品才能雋永，令人動容。

Take everything personally, and be faithful to origins. Mr. Yang said, “I am so lucky that I can interpret my own life through creations. I like to watch and feed fishes. I consider myself to be a fish, and thirty percent of my personality is a betta fish which loves the challenges and keeps alert in any time; fifty percent is a deep-sea fish which loves freedom but enjoys the time to be alone; the remaining twenty percent is a goldfish, pure and cute. Although yearning for freedom, the goldfish still needs a sense of refuge.” In Mr. Yang’s new work Wanderers of the Abyssal, we can see him use Dorothy as a theme. All the deep-sea fishes and goldfishes turn into the mounts of Dorothy. These deep-sea fishes are the reflections of Mr. Yang himself in art creations.
親力親為，忠於原創。楊老師說：『我很幸運地可以用創作來詮釋我的人生，我喜歡看魚、養魚，我的特質百分之30是鬥魚，愛挑戰並隨時處在戰鬥戒備中；百分之50是深海魚，愛自由也愛孤獨，享受獨處的時光；而剩下的百分之20是金魚〈家魚〉，純真可愛憨厚，雖嚮往自由終究還是要需要家的歸依感！』楊老師的年度新作「尋找曼荼羅．初回－黯黑的放浪者」中，可以欣賞到以奧茲王國的桃樂絲為主題，深海魚、金魚都化身成為桃樂絲的座騎，這些深海魚類都是在藝術創作中自我呈現的反射。

Basically, creations are the accumulations of life experience. While Mr. Yang was in the most brilliant moment of his oil painting career, he resolutely embarked on the road of sculpture. With the fusion of Eastern and Western elements and the combination of modern and vintage, he conveys his hidden childlike innocence through creations .When mentioning sculpture, his face always lights up with a smile. From sketching, modeling, molding, casting to forging and from carving wood, marble, stainless to copper, Mr. Yang has a challenging mind and keeps trying and exploring himself.
創作基本上是用生活經驗累積出來的，楊茂林老師在油畫生涯最輝煌的時刻，毅然決然封筆走上雕塑之路，融合東、西方語彙，結合現代及復古，並在卡漫與莊嚴之中，恰到好處地表述自己蘊藏的童趣萌想。楊老師談到雕塑的表情神采飛揚，一路從草圖、模型、鑄模、鍛造；從木雕、大理石、不鏽鋼到銅製，有著挑戰、冒險特立性格的楊老師，在不斷地嘗試及自我摸索，造就一個個獨傲卻帶著童真的無瑕的作品。
