In the drizzly, misty Taipei morning, the POSAMO design team interviews the internationally acclaimed marble sculptor Cynthia Sah before she returns to Italy. First impressions of Sah are that of immense charisma, uniqueness and talent, it was then that we realized how something as hard and unyielding as stone can be instilled with soul through her delicate hands. Sah’s vivid, expressive creations embody her boundless passion for life.
飄著細雨的台北早晨，窗外還有氤煙的息氣，POSAMO 十邑設計趕在藝術家薩璨如起身返回義大利前，專訪這位國際知名的大理石雕刻家。初見薩老師，獨行思想的才情魅力迷人，你可以理解，為什麼剛硬的石材經過她雙手細膩雕琢後像是有了生命，如此氣韻靈動地傾訴著對人生的無限情懷。 |

Hosting her first solo exhibition in 18 years in Taiwan, Sah has exhibited 40 exquisitely crafted new creations at the Double Square Gallery under the theme of “The Inner Garden, Secrets to be Shared”. Most of her artworks are created from white Carrara marble, only a handful of them are sculpted from Chinese white marble or bardiglio stone.
睽違了18年首度在台舉辦個展，於双方藝廊展出40件精心籌備的新作，主題為「內在之庭」，多以純白卡拉拉大理石創作而成，極少件為中國白大理石、黑蛇紋方解石為材。
The rigidness of stone is akin to Cynthia Sah’s resoluteness, portraying an art form that is powerful, soft and beautiful at the same time. Underneath the seemingly cold texture of marble, Sah is able to express a language that is exclusive to stones using her hands. According to her “Each stone is my baby, and I will protect and nurture them with all my heart: I will try to understand their personality from their texture and color, so that I can sculpt their appearance by following the texture and lines, where nature’s inspiration is fused with my experiences in life and profound Eastern culture in order to present my love and gratitude for nature, as well as my spiritual impulse and freedom.”
石頭的堅固，薩璨如老師的堅毅，譜出了剛強而柔美的藝術，這些看似冰冷的大理石質材肌理，卻能透過老師的雙手磨合出專屬石材的語言，她說：「每一塊石頭都是我的孩子，我潛心守護育養，從紋路色澤去了解它的個性，依循紋路去雕塑它的樣貌，把大自然的靈感，加上對生活的體驗感受，以及蘊藏深遠的東方文化融合，將生命中對自然的愛和感激，心靈的悸動與自由，完整呈現。」

Artist Cynthia Sah’s unique personality is reflected in the marble, as the explosive energy concealed within the stone can be appreciated through the immaculate, well-executed lines. As the intense emotions are infused into the timeless pieces, they culminate in an unparalleled style within the realm of contemporary sculpting, where the composed, serene Eastern philosophy meets stone and bronze to exemplify the spirituality of life.
薩璨如藝術家自身獨特的性格，映照大理石，從唯美俐落的線條看穿石頭內基底蘊藏的爆發力，深層的情感在無華的時光中流轉，造就了當代雕塑界無可取代的風格，以東方哲理的凝靜淡泊，從石材銅雕媒材中，演繹出生命的靈動。 |
