An expert in applying eastern styles and vibrant colors, Inca Pan is an unrestrained knight of science fiction. Apart from illustrations, his talents also enable him to create fictions that are filled with exciting illustrations and
literature. “The Man Who Stoops in Palm Line Canyons,” a collection of short stories by Inca Pan, was shortlisted in the fiction category of the 2016 TIBE Book Prize. The interesting surreal writing experiment of “Journey of Minor Figure” was even published in the 2015 Chiu Ko Fiction Collection.
擅長東方風情、用色鮮明強烈的川貝母，其實更是一位天馬行空的科幻騎士，除了插畫才華藝術觸角更延伸到圖文並茂的小說創作，《川貝母短篇故事集～蹲在掌紋峽谷的男人 》入圍了2016台北國際書展大獎-『小說類』，「小人物之旅」有趣的超現實書寫實驗，更被《九歌104年小說選》收錄發行。 |

Pan stated that “Illustrations are a way for psychological healing. Clues of an imaginary world that link and resound deep in the heart can be found when deconstructing the images. I have recently started exploring fiction writing. Every time I start writing, I am unable to stop. This is a discovery of new pleasures, and the recognition and appreciation from viewers have motivated me even more.” From his illustrations to writing, one gains a strong impression of Pan’s unconventional philosophy. The deconstruction of images to a fictional world is a higher level of imagination. The next image and tension of storytelling create an instant of illusion as if this person standing in front is an alien from outer space.
老師說：『插畫是一種心理療癒，在圖像的解構中，可以尋覓到異想世界的蛛絲馬跡，再連結到內心深處產生共鳴，而近年來開始神遊於小說創作，一揮筆就停不下來，自我發現另一種樂趣，獲得肯定更有動力。』從畫作到文字世界的奔馳，都能強烈感受到老師的超脫的思維，解構畫面中到虛實的世界，就是想像力的極限到更高一層的境界，下一次的畫面，說故事的張力，讓人秒間錯覺眼前的人物是～神秘宇宙的外星人。 |

Inca Pan states that: “I tend to spend more time on composition. First, I give the work outline with strokes of the pencil. I then apply color with watercolor and opaque pigments, while formative and decorative techniques are the most common qualities that I apply. I like to create images with metaphorical approaches so that various objects can merge into one picture. I don’t directly present themes but instead express imagery through indirect layering and verlapping methods regardless of three-dimensional or two-dimensional images, sizes and proportions, or near and far sceneries to achieve unexpected results. This allows each and every viewer to develop different inner interpretations and perspectives and leaves room for imagination. This is the deepest meaning an artwork can express.”
川貝母老師說：『我會花比較多的時間在構圖上，先以鉛筆一筆一畫賦予作品新輪廓，再用水彩、不透明顏料上色，造型與裝飾性是最常用的特色。我喜歡以隱喻方式創作圖像，讓很多的東西融合成一個構圖，不直接表現主題，透過間接層疊交錯的手法來表達意象，不管立體或平面、大小比例或遠近畫面，達到一種和諧度，反而更有意想不到的效果，因此讓每位觀賞的人從內心發出不同的詮釋角度，保留無限的想像空間，這就是創作要傳遞的最深層意義了。』 |

Inca Pan loves mountain climbing and traveling. His one-month travel to Nepal allows him to immerse in different historical sites and cultures. Pan will surely come up with more imaginations and inspirations after his return, and his illustrations and writings will definitely impress and touch viewers.
愛爬山，愛旅行的他，一趟一個月的尼泊爾行旅，沈浸不同文化古蹟人文風情，相信歸來後，將會有更多充滿天馬行空的意念飛翔，畫作或小說都能再次令人驚艷，深刻的植入人心。
